New Services Designed for Online Gambling
This week they have been announced the appearance of two new services for the gaming industry.
One of them is Safe Gaming System (SGS), a new responsible gaming service. It positions itself as a “safety net” which protects players from excessive gambling. SGS helps the registered players to set sensible gambling limits taking into consideration players’ incomes. The system wants players to set money and time limits beforehand and not in the atmosphere of a casino which allows players to think reasonably and set right limits.
Moreover, SGS give the players an opportunity to fund online casino accounts. To do it a player has to open an account with Safe Gaming System, to fund it for “budget periods” pre-purchasing their “affordable limit” to play. After that an SGS debit card will be issued for the player. This card is used to deposit the accounts at online casinos accepting the SGS card. The players in their turn should try to use only their SGS account to play at an online casino and not to use any other payment method. After spending the funds meant for a given period SGS don’t accept more deposits from the player during this “budget period” and the player will have to wait for the next “budget period” to wager again.
The second new service is an age verification service from ImpulsePay. An online casino should add an ImpulsePay ‘Buy Now’ button at its site. A player clicks on this button and type in his mobile number. Then by SMS the player gets a secure PIN to this number. After the player has entered this PIN at the casino site, the latter is informed if the mobile is registered to an adult user. If the applicant is not registered that he is over 18, he will be sent to a help page. If the applicant is registered that he is over eighteen, the transaction is made and the player is allowed to register.
The above-mentioned services have just been advertised so it will take time to be appeared at the online casinos. But some questions are left in both cases. SGS depends on the will of the player since in spite of his agreement with SGS nothing can prevent him from registering with an online casino and load his account with some other payment option. Concerning ImpulsePay, it is not clear how it can learn that a minor is using his mobile phone and not the phone registered on his parents, for example.
